This part...is all new. So for those of you who've read The Sable Valentine in its various incarnations before...voila! Howsomever, do tell me if it seems too expositiony. C'est ca. No looking back, right? NaNoWriMo!
Oh, it should also be noted that I've no idea why the typography doubled in the ending letter. Ah ca!
This is what I needed! So the land used to be run by sorcerer kings and now is not, and the people have a strong distrust for anything that reminds anyone of magic. And this Church of the Reverended God is behind the burnings! I thought they seemed too strait-laced to be any good! And that hymn ending with Life not being their friend nor Death their foe--for goodness sake! Then what on earth do they look forward to when they die, an unending sort of limbo? How foolish they are! And how very violently cult-ish, too.
ReplyDeleteAnd there is a plot! Something revolving around Giselle, that much is plain. Obviously, Mundanity hates Snow, Snow is an increasingly interesting personage, and I suspect all the burnings mentioned won't long stay away from Snow's residence, even if "Maundy" isn't the hand that lights the fire.
And now they can't find Giselle's father. Most interesting. The hook is well and truly caught in my mouth, and I shall follow along wherever it leads!
