The Newspapers Giselle Included

About Luce Thibauld and Theophilus Snow!

  1. Okay, perhaps a rather pointless curiosity at this point, but I'm wondering how the newspaper articles are going to be published, not to mention the letters. Will they be folded into envelopes in the book? I've seen something like that before, but I didn't read it. I liked the absurdity of the horoscopes. So silly! My favorite was the advice for the Grezch sign: "which in all cases but yours is propitious". How Art does imitate Life!

  2. Anne - it's so NOT a pointless curiosity. I'm not SURE how the newspapers would work. (It's why I've cut back on them, by and large, from my first version.) A few thoughts:

    1) A really big book.

    2) Only put in the articles that are important (see Harry Potter) in the regular body of the text.

    3) Reformat the newspaper to fit the size of the book (still would prob. have to be trade paperback).

    4) Something cool like folded in an envelope in the book, like some novelty books do.

    5) Some combination of the above, but if the book took off there could be alternate versions of the book in different formats such as:

    A) Kindle/Nook/Ebook (no problem w/ size);

    B) Some sort of video game (no problem w/ size);

    C) A book that's sent to your e-mail letter by letter, or day by day (so all that "day's" letters sent) in an interactive service you sign up for (no problem w/ size);

    D) A fancy-dancy novelty version of the novel, perhaps sold in a filing drawer or docket, that has EVERY version of each letter as if it really were a letter, newspaper, etc. This would be for hard-core fans w/ Christmas money.

    But to do any of the above, there probably DOES need to be a plain old book version. So, suggestions welcome!
